NFPA 1851 Classes
We pride ourselves at Shamrock Gear & Repair
LLC in being able to provide not only Firefighter Ensemble Maintenance but also:
Firefighter Ensemble
Maintenance Education
What does this mean?
Firefighters have an understanding that their
fire gear is made to protect them, and to protect it should be clean and in good
repair. But, sometimes that is as far as it goes. It can be a hassle
to clean your gear and have it out of service while being repaired. It can
be a much greater hassle having to wear gear that is in disarray, deteriorating,
and essentially not protecting you to its fullest capability. You check
your air pack to make sure it is functioning perfectly, why not make sure the
"clothes on your back" are are reaching their highest standards?
The materials used in protective clothing
is not indestructible. It takes unique care to maintain it to its fullest
potential. Much of this maintenance can be performed "in house" in your
department. We can help you do this. Our NFPA 1851 Recognition Class
helps to educate your members to clean and inspect fire gear as per the
specifications of the manufacturers, NFPA 1971, and NFPA 1851. Members
attending will receive a certificate recognizing them to perform these duties in
their respective departments. This class can be especially helpful when
NFPA 1851 2007 Edition takes effect.

October 19th Seminar a Success
On October 19th 2006, Shamrock Gear held its
first training seminar over NFPA 1851- The Selection, Care, and Maintenance of
the Firefighter Ensemble. The class seemed to be a success due to the
participant response/ evaluation, participant involvement, questions and
conversations.
The day started with Group Presentation- Power
Point and discussion at East Sparta Fire Dept. training room. This is the
background of "how to" and "why" we should select, care, and maintain fire gear
as recommended. Hopefully the best part was not the coffee and donuts!
In the second half of the morning, we moved to
the shop. This gave participants an opportunity to see what Shamrock Gear
has to offer, but also get some hands on experience in the cleaning,
inspection and testing of firefighter gear. This is the time when we
wanted individuals to gain experience and confidence in the responsibility of
maintaining the ensemble elements.
Overall the day was very educational for both
participants and presenters. We look forward to seeing new faces in the
future, and gaining feedback from anyone who has attended.
We welcome your knowledge, experience,
feedback, and opinions. We are striving to help individuals stay healthy
and safe!
